NBPA & NSPAUK Joint Statement – Manchester Attack 2nd October 2025

We stand together in grief and solidarity following the abhorrent terrorist attack on worshippers at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in Manchester. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the victims, their families, and the wider Jewish community at this profoundly painful time.

This attack, carried out on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, represents not only a violent assault on innocent lives, but also an attack on freedom of faith and the right to worship without fear. No person should ever be targeted because of their faith, heritage, or identity.

We unequivocally condemn those who espouse hatred and division. Their actions seek to tear communities apart; we are determined they will not succeed. We must resist the pull of fear, prejudice, and blame, and instead stand united against those who wish to sow discord. At this difficult time, we call for calm, reassurance, and solidarity across all communities. Together, we must ensure that our places of worship remain spaces of peace, reflection, and
belonging, protected from violence and hatred. As associations representing minority police officers and staff across the United Kingdom, we reaffirm our commitment to standing against extremism in all its forms and working
tirelessly to build trust, understanding, and unity. Hate has no home here. Our diversity is our strength, and our collective resolve will always be stronger than those who seek to divide us.

We will continue to work closely with policing and community partners to ensure that every community feels protected, reassured, and safe in practising their faith and living their lives without fear.
