Telephone Legal Advice Line
Phone: tbc
Email: NBPAadvice@equaljustice.co.uk
With effect from 1 October 2025 the NBPA have accepted a proposal from Equal Justice Solicitors to provide NBPA members with a free initial legal consultation on/via a new free telephone legal advice line/email address.
The advice line will be staffed by solicitors, provide vital free and confidential initial legal advice to NBPA members about misconducts, discrimination, grievances and ETs. You can also obtain a second opinion on advice given by the PolFed or (for civilian staff) your trade union.
It will provide a safe space for members to talk about their situation and receive expert legal advice to enable them to make important decisions about their future.
Please note that although the advice is free, calls made by you will be charged at the local rate and calls from mobiles vary according to your network provider and calling plan.
If an adviser is not available, you can either leave a message or email NBPAadvice@equaljustice.co.uk and the law firm will try to return your communication in 48 hours.
Normally, because the PolFed and PSA offer free legal advice to their members and internal representation the most cost-effective way forward will be to utilise those options. However, if you feel you are not receiving accurate or effective advice or want to speak to an experienced solicitor in confidence sooner, this advice line offers a useful add on to your existing support.
The telephone advice line is managed by Lawrence Davies who won the NBPA Lifetime Achievement award in 2018 and has remained a powerful ally of the NBPA since then.
